The famous cliffs and beaches of Cornwall attract many visitors with a love of dramatic seascapes and coastal activities and some of the most spectacular are found at St Just, a town near Penzance, on the coastal route from Land's End to St Ives.
Britain's most westerly town, St Just is home to an historic market square and church and close by is the equally historic Wellington Hotel. A notable local landmark, the Wellington offers premier Cornwall bed and breakfast accommodation which is convenient for the coast and for those looking for the kind of unique accommodation Penzance may not provide.
The stunning granite building of the hotel predates its famous namesake's victory at Waterloo and was converted into a hotel just two years before the historic 1815 battle after, it is said, the Iron Duke stayed here. Extensively upgraded in recent years the hotel provides contemporary hotel facilities within a truly historic setting.
Five guest rooms are available in the main building and a further six in an adjoining annex which overlooks the lovely walled garden.
All rooms are en suite, centrally heated and have television and tea and coffee making facilities.
There is ample free parking available and those looking to explore around St Just Penzance and other Cornish tourist hotspots can do so by bus with regular services which leave close to the hotel.
Hotels in Penzance certainly offer quality bed and breakfast, but the history and long standing local culture associated with The Wellington Hotel brings with it its own authentic slice of Cornwall which is hard to beat.
The lounge bar in particular is renowned for its real local flavour in both the ales and the atmosphere and there is a restaurant and beer garden for further drinks and dining in wonderful surrounds.
